April Showers Bring May Flowers

"Once all struggle is grasped, miracles are possible." -Mao Tse-Tung

As you might have noticed, I’ve been a tad absent from the blogosphere lately. April was an intense month, to say the least…

My best friend from HS passed away.

I got completely wasted for the first time in months.

I got a back piece.

Lotus flower mandala, unfinished.

Work got insanely HECTIC.

I filed my taxes for the first time as Independent.

I slacked on my healthy diet.

I ate a few more of these than I'm willing or proud to admit. :/

I dyed my hair.

I made shitty truffles.

My taxes got fucked up. (My parents’ tax lady accidentally claimed me on their return..)

My face broke out.

^ Not me. I can assure you, mine was WAY worse.

I was BROKE.

I isolated myself.

I cried a lot.

So true! Hahaha

I almost quit my job. A few times.

I started having an influx of negative emotions.

I was at my breaking point.

Ready to give up..

I turned to yoga and meditation to save me. And they did.

I decided to put all of the things that I’ve gathered over the years and put them to use again (I’d previously pulled myself out of a depressive/anxious episode the previous year). Only this time, even more than before. This time I will stick to my rituals. This time I will CHANGE for the good. For the better. I am a child of the universe. I can only live for this moment. Dwelling on the past or dreaming of the future are only things that will hinder my progess in the NOW moment. And NOW is what will bring me THERE… later. πŸ™‚

"In the power to change yourself is the power to change the world around you." -Anwar Sadat

Here’s a few of the things I want to incorporate this month to help me HOLISTICALLY feel, emotionally and physically, my best:

1. Meditate for at least 10 minutes per day. (I currently do this most days.)

2. Yoga whenever possible. (I already do yoga daily, the more the better.)

3. One or more Green Smoothies per day. (Like I said I slacked off last month. I FELT the difference my diet has had on my energy and emotional state.. not to mention my face. :()

4. Incorporate more raw foods. (Get back to my salad a day.)

5. Use the Neti Pot 2-3 per week. (Recently purchased and used it once. It was kind of weird, but I did feel clearer and cleaner afterwards!)

6. Dry brush before I shower. (I have done this a few times..)

7. Utilize positive affirmations. (Retrain my thoughts to be positive, not negative.)

8. Work on energy healing. (Currently dabbling with theΒ Emotional Freedom Technique.)

9. Finish “The Tao of Detox” and start reading “The Kind Diet.”

10. Plan a detox for the end of the month.

Oh yeah, and start blogging again on a regular basis!!! πŸ˜€

So-even though it was a shit month and I felt like my entire life fell apart amongst the storm clouds-there were a few amazing moments amidst the crap that made me see the clarity of life. I am here for a purpose.. That’s why the universe hasn’t weeded me out yet. I am a strong, independent woman. (Yes, I feel like I can finally start using this term.. Up until now I described myself as a “lady” because I still felt like a little girl inside.) While I still feel young and naive at times.. I think I am finally starting to blossom into the woman that WILL succeed in this world. Just like the lotus flower, I CAN make it out of the darkness and muck.. to shine-bright and beautiful. πŸ™‚

β€œAs a lotus flower is born in water, grows in water and rises out of water to stand above it unsoiled, so I, born in the world, raised in the world having overcome the world, live unsoiled by the world.” -Buddha

Namaste’ for now..

  1. babe, what a magnificent post! how awful to hear one of your dear friends past away, and to read about your struggle, but I can sense such a power coming from your words here. i sure can relate, this past month has been a giant rollercoaster for me as well. getting sick for a full week (when i never get sick) also really didnt help with staying on track with eating (i ate far too little and mostly smoothies & fruit…). just as you, i know my anker points by now though and man does that help. it feels so good & comforting coming back to yoga, salads and YES, blogging. my blogging has been erratic as well and now that I am back at it, i really feel more like myself again. i hope you’ll get back to very regular blogging as well, its such a good outlet AND way to connect with lovely likeminded gals.

LOVE your backpiece by the way, reminds me a lot of my moms’. guess what? she has a lotus as well, all-over her back, she’s crazy about lotussus. lotus’? (spelling? ha). i LOVE that its a mandala though, i first got acqainted with mandalas when i was inpatient, we had to do them for creativity therapy haha. but i simply love how beautiful they are.

take care & hope to hear lots from you! xx

thank you lady! i had a lot to get off my chest.. but i feel so much better now that i have! ready to let the past be done and focus on the present moment and living every second to it’s fullest. i don’t want to dwell on past mistakes/regrets/memories/ect. instead i will replace those thoughts with ones of love and light. πŸ™‚

that’s awesome your mom has a lotus back piece! my mom is not that cool. she nearly killed me when she found out. (if she wasnt two hours away she might have.. i got the brunt of it via texts so it wasn’t all bad lol.) maybe it’s “loti” (like cacti? hahhaha.. maybe not ;)) LOL! and yes.. i love mandalas. it’s awesome they used it for creative therapy.. i need some of that myself these days! i really want to start painting again.. try to get out some of my emotions in a POSITIVE way. i need that creative outlet. although blogging DOES help me tons!! it gives me a purpose.. and as a writer, it’s good to have something to write about whenever the urge strikes. so i’ll be doing MUCH more of that this month as well. πŸ˜€

thank you so much for your encouragement and kinds words! you are a wonderful little lady. ❀
